  1. It's been a while since I have been blogging here. This has been a busy summer, where I am directing a documentary on all the recent earthquakes in Southern California, and the nature of the 7.2 Mexicali earthquake. I'm doing a second one on some leading edge scientists, and ended up doing more than simply filming them.

I'm helping them with the more mechanical and engineering end of setting up equipment. I feel honored to be able to help some scientists with my skills at problem solving. I love to solve problems!

Nothing has been going on on the aviation front, at least nothing exciting. My life has mainly been centered around science and the documentaries.

Check out the map above to see how complex Southern California is. It's actually includes a rifting zone in the Salton Basin, and the same rift that had been submerged in a subduction zone further north, and one big strike slip fault - the great San Andreas. A rifting zone is where the techtonic plates are pulling apart, and where there is new land being built via volcanism.

I've been shooting footage on and around one of our local volcanos. It's pretty amazing, weird and a wee bit spooky.
